                                "New"

In the February 1929 En-ar-co Booster, Canadian Oil Company offered to loan this new  En-ar-co Motor Oil Dispenser  to dealers with a minimum purchase of En-ar-co Motor Oil. It held  2 - eight bottle wire baskets and enough storage below for an additional 16 bottles.

This version (left) used different legs,
Still another ( later) 16 bottle rack used only 4 Boy and Slate transfers with script style En-ar-co Motor Oil in the slate.
This may have been a method of refinishing  aging racks.

Another  smaller rack  held only 8 bottles and did not use the wire carrying basket. Instead ,the 8 bottles were set into holes in the sheet metal top.

I am not sure when these versions were first ( or last ) offered.

In late 1934,  when sealed quarts became available from the company in a new method of display was needed.
The December 1934 En-ar-co Booster showed this
En-ar-co Display Stand.  This is a two-way display rack, holding 20 one quart and 6 one gallon cans.
The sign is yellow and black, the framework is flat iron.
This was a nice display but probably difficult to  put away at closing time

This picture from the Christmas 1946 White Rose News shows the new one-sided , fold out can display.
This version holds 10 one quart tins and two rows of  4 ounce additive tins and could be easily folded up for storage at closing time.

The summer 1953 White Rose News shows a then new fold - up 10 quart  rack with one row of 4 ounce additive tins.
These racks were engraved- "property of Canadian Oil Companies Ltd."
I also have a (poor) photo of a similar rack for glass oil bottles. I can not be sure if this was a original piece or a  user made adaptation. It did not have an area for the 4 ounce tins.

The spring 1956 White Rose Dealer publication shows this new 10 quart version with 2 rows additive tins and a sign on the top
saying "Performance Beyond Compare!"  in the upper white section, and "Ultra Motor Oil  -  Heavy Duty" in the lower green portion . This rack was  designed to co-incide with the 1953 introduction of the Ultra series of oils and gasolines.

This round top, wheel-out  island display oil dispenser ,which  holds 20 quarts, and 7  four ounce additive cans per side, was shown in the spring 1957 WHITE ROSE DEALER .  It also has a paper towel dispenser, oil spout holder, and drain area for empty tins.  Another similar version was also used.
Incidently these pumps were state of the art  in 1957. The Ultra pump on the left is white  with a green base and has an illuminated  ad-glass insert with yellow ULTRA script  on a green glass . The pump on the right is yellow ,on a red base, with  illuminated   WHITE ROSES (three) on a red ad glass. These pumps were usually supplied , pre- wired for an optional globe adapter.
Notice also the white rose radiator fill can, similar to a garden watering can (minus the difusser) . I know of three versions of this pump island accessory. See another style in the 1946  photo (above).
